With more than 40 years of successful events, Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion is the ideal venue for your social and corporate event.

Our convenient location allows you to host a private party surrounded by nature without the need for a long drive or extensive transportation plan. Woodend is in Chevy Chase, MD, less than 9 miles from downtown DC and a few minutes off the Capital Beltway.

We provide expert advice throughout the planning phase of your event, from the day you join us for a tour until the day of your occasion. There is plenty of space in the mansion, climate-controlled tent, and surrounding lawns to customize and entertain up to 150 guests.

History

Historic Woodend Mansion was built in 1927 and designed by renowned American architect John Russell Pope. His notable works include the Jefferson Memorial, the National Archives Building, and the DAR Constitution Hall.

Woodend is the headquarters of Nature Forward, a local nonprofit organization founded in 1897 that inspires residents of the Greater Washington, DC region to appreciate, understand, and protect their natural environment through outdoor experiences, education, and advocacy.

When you rent Woodend for your event, you contribute to Nature Forward’s environmental mission. A portion of the rental fee for bookings of 8 hours or more is considered a tax-deductible donation.
